I knew it was coming for the last couple days – Samantha started having contractions on Thursday! But the phone call didn’t officially come until Sunday morning at 8am. So I made my way over to Jay and Samantha’s house and joined the ‘party’. The midwives were there and had everything well under control. Little Lucy was so excited to have all the company and while Samantha laboured, The Santa Clause was on in the background.
Samantha had some rough times, when we were sure the baby was turning to face the right way – and once that happened things FLEW! Samantha was pushing before we knew it, and the all of a sudden there was a healthy, pink little baby girl (that was still unnamed as of this posting). We took guesses as to the birth weight (I was awfully close guessing 8lb, 1oz – she was 7,13 I think…) and I watched this beautiful family, tears and all, as they bonded for the first time. Little Lucy, who had been adamant about taking everyone’s picture with her disposable, ran into the room to meet her little sister with the biggest smile on her face. It was truly the most beautiful moment ever.
