I was lucky to meet Kaia the other day, a sweet little not-so-newborn with a beautiful big sister. I was super surprised to have her come in sleeping, remain sleeping while we changed her, and then only wake briefly to eat and then sleep again! That rarely happens for babies outside the 2 week range, but I was so lucky.
She was adorable, and getting to shoot an almost newborn again was fun (it's been a while!)
Hope you enjoy these!
This family won my contest around Christmas last year and we finally nailed down a time to get together and take their photos. What a gorgeous family they had with a new little one too!
Thank you for taking part in the contest, and I can't wait to show you your gallery!
So this newborn shoot was one of my favourites, because not only is this my newest little nephew (I have 6 now!) but he's also the exact image of my son when he was born (we compared some shots, it's uncanny!)
Jess and Bryan met me and we set up, Maverick needed a little snuggling to get him all ready for his big shoot, and I was happy to oblige. He fell fast asleep and with a little feeding and encouragement, he was perfect the whole time!
I seriously can't get enough of this kid!
Ok I'm biased, but tell me this isn't THE cutest little man you've ever seen! I can say that I am blessed, I'm blessed because no matter what happens, and how far apart you may feel sometimes... I know that I will always have my sisters in my life. And that may not always be apparent, but when you need them, they're there. And it's because of this close-ness that I got to be there for all three of my nieces and nephew's births. And since I photographed the births, it's only natural that I'd also photograph them as newborns.
Now, I was overzealous with Emma - photographing her at just 2 days...
There isn't anything in the world more amazing than the birth of a child. And I've been blessed to be there to photograph all three beautiful children in my sister's family. Henry has two beautiful older siblings, Emma and George - he's being welcomed into a very busy household! Shannon's labour started around 1am (while I was still at the wedding from Saturday, blog to come for that too). And when I got the message at 830am, I packed everything up and made the trek back to Barrie. My other sister was on a train coming back from Montreal, and she was going to miss it. So we face timed her into...
Little Lina gave her mum a run for her money with some pre-term labour. She and her brother were obviously fighting for the best birth story :P
Lina was fast asleep when I arrived, but not to worry - she woke up right quick and expressed her distaste with the whole photo session in no time! Ive learned, instead of trying to force a baby to sleep - we just wait them out and get the shots we can get. So thats what we did, and we got some really beautiful shots! I left around 11am, and at 2:30pm I got a txt message letting me know that Lina was STILL sleeping. Looks like we really wore her out!
Welcome...
Little Nolan has come into this world surrounded by an amazing family! His big sisters were asking to hold him and take pictures with him the whole time, and little Reagan had some cute little smiles for me too. The best part was that in this small world, I realized that Victoria and I grew up 2 streets away from each other in Toronto. And our parents have been friends since grade school! How have I not known this until now?
Anyways, Nolan is a doll - I'm sure you'll agree!
When Shauna and Shawn found out they were expecting, I was sooooooo happy for them. I've known and worked with Shauna's mom for more than 8 years.
Little Taylor was the sweetest and cuddliest little baby. She was bright eyed and bushy tailed the whole, entire time. Not a single ounce of sleep was to be had. Not one. Mark this down, this is the first baby that I didn't get to sleep. (In fact, I had to use a "blink" photo to mimic it :P )
But, despite the lack of sleep, Taylor was a star and looked gorgeous in her pics - I'm sure her family's going to love them!
I met Olivia last week and she was absolutely beautiful. I've been getting more and more little girls now that we're getting into summer, because earlier it was all boys!
Olivia was reluctant to fall asleep, she was hungry and needed a snuggle. And with all the feeding comes a lot of... *ahem* output. But we managed to get her down to a good nap to get at least a couple sleepy shots, and she was beautiful!
Nick and Maria welcomed their beautiful little girl to join their already beautiful family and I was lucky enough to get to meet her the other day. It's incredible how big Nicholas has gotten since we did his newborn photos.
When I arrived, little Cassandra was out like a light - and she slept through the whole session. She was super cute and comfortable throughout and her sweet little face just glowed. When we tried to get Nicholas to get some photos done with his little sister, he was a little harder to convince. But we managed to bribe our way through it and I think it turned out quite beautiful.
